I hope the I Am An Article series has been helpful, informative and most especially inspirational.

It’s inspiration and creativity alone that brought many of these methods to life.

None require huge budgets or weeks of work to put into place. None require extensive skills of any kind – you don’t HAVE to be a world-class writer, you don’t HAVE to be a world-class speaker, you don’t HAVE to be a world-class technical expert.

Some you’ll get better with time and some you might actually look better if you’re not perfect!

The cold hard fact is we’ve brought to light nearly two dozen ways to repurpose article marketing. Whether you do them all or not doesn’t matter; it’s knowing you can do them if you choose that counts. It increases your options and with them, your potential for self confidence. Work with one until you’re comfortable and in the groove, and then pick another to start.

Think of being a kid in a candy store staring at the penny candy, which costs more like a dollar apiece these days. So many sweet choices, and you can choose several but still only enjoy one at a time. When you find one you really like, you can get and enjoy more of it.

The big difference is, enjoying these “sweet treats” can also make money for you. Now that is sweet!!

Today marks the end of the I Am An Article series about repurposing article content. According to Jeff Herring, there’s 21 ways to do so.

Sadly, I only managed to find and list a mere 20. Please accept my humblest apologies.

BUT…

I gave it a little more thought on my own over a particularly yummy plate of buffalo wings, with chunky blue cheese dressing and celery, of course. I do some of my best thinking while munching these little delicacies, but writing or typing at that time is a bit messy.

My hot sauce inspired revelation?

Sig lines.

That’s those little hyperlinked lines you set up in your forum and email profiles to send folks to whatever place you want to send them. Why not send them to your articles?

It’s a small and quick change to change one article link to another as you choose to keep them appropriate.

It’s also a nice way to provide good content that can lead into opt-ins and product sales. Unobtrusive, yet intriguing if you write your text to pique interest and not more hype to ignore.

For example, “Here’s Three Tips To A Tighter Tush” beats ” Get A Boffo Butt , Baby!!”

I’d certainly hope so, anyway…

The end of the I Am An Article series is in sight…or maybe it’s here already.

Today’s tip relates somewhat to the previous one in which you set up a site dedicated solely to your own articles. We’ll take it a bit further…create your own article directory.

Sounds daunting, huh? You can create your own article directory more easily and quickly than you might think.

How does creating your own article directory benefit you? From revenue generated by Google AdSense or other contextual ad programs. That’s those little ads you see when you read articles on article directories.
You won’t retire to your own private island from the income, but it’s still money in your pocket AND another avenue for exposure of your own articles.

In addition, however, article directory owners can also earn money by setting up their own affiliate links and yes, links for your own products too. Apply a bit of discretion so that you don’t scare off other potential article posters in your niche.

As the owner of an article directory, there’s no worries about writing content, hiring ghost writers, or really anything to do with creating content. People with articles to post come to your site with their content they wrote and submit it to you to publish. Can’t beat that!

The more articles that people submit, the more of an “authority” your site becomes, and the search engines just love a nice authority site!

You can find inexpensive and even free article directory scripts online, such as Article Friendly. The people who supply these article directory scripts may even install it for your for free or for a very small fee. If they install it for free they may require that
you get hosting from a certain company.

Be sure you read all terms and condition first to avoid unwanted surprises later.

I’m still looking for all 21 ways to repurpose article marketing content for the I Am An Article series, but this one seemed a little wild and crazy.

If you already have a collection of audio articles, this will be much easier. If you don’t, now’s as good a time as any to start!

Ready? Put those audio articles onto an mp3 player and either giveaway or sell the mp3 player. For instance, it could be the prize for a contest.

I have to admit, this is NOT something I ever would have thought of myself.

Oh sure, there’s the cost of the mp3 player and recording software (if you use a paid version), but the payoff is more opt-in subscribers/list members.
Heck, you could even request mailing addresses!

You’ll have to ship it to the winner or successful bidder or whatever anyway, and that could be any one of them.

Don’t sweat buying an iPod for this purpose – there’s plenty of good, inexpensive mp3 players for 50 dollars US or so. Try Amazon for mp3 players.

Even if the person who actually receives the mp3 player deletes your lovingly created content for U2 and GreenDay or maybe the Beatles and the Stones, the publicity and the opt-ins generated by it all will be more than worth it.

“Sounds” pretty good, doesn’t it??

This is the part of the I Am An Article series when it gets a little…different.

Different is good if it’s something most people aren’t or won’t do that actually works to boot.

Well, here goes: Give your articles a home of their own.

Put them on their very own website with its own unique domain name such as “ArticlesByJoeSchmo.com”.

After all, when you get a few out there and people start reading (and liking) them, they’ll look for them again. They may remember your name better than the name of the directory where they saw it, so they type in “articles by joe schmo” in the Google search bar.

You can get a HostGator hosting account for one cent for the first month (see sidebar) and grab your domain name at GoDaddy for less than 10 bucks US a year.

Well, waddaya know…look at what’s the first result! Your ArticlesByJoeSchmo.com site!

Why stop at putting just your written articles there? Categorize them by format and put every version you create there – PDFs, videos, Powerpoint, widgets, etc.
It’d be the one-stop shop for all your articles of all kinds and folks can choose whichever format they prefer.

Think they MIGHT remember you then?!?

The I Am An Article series is still on a roll as I discover a couple more of those mysterious missing ways to repurpose article marketing.

One most people don’t think about is using article content as the basis for a press release.

Think about it now then. You write an article about something potentially newsworthy – a new product release, an event you’re attending or even better, hosting or a charity drive you’re supporting – and you post it in all the ways we’ve already discussed.

But have you considered posting it as a press release??

Press releases aren’t really so scary and all official as you might think. These days, press releases have become more another way to list your content on major directories than a way to get actual press coverage. By using keywords as you would with regular articles, your submission is indexed on the search engines in much the same way as it is on other directories.

Now don’t feel blue if the New York Times doesn’t feature your piece on the front page. Press releases are an excellent tool for gaining exposure right in your own backyard in your local paper. You can contact a real live reporter who’s hungry for some real live news of interest to their readers to get things going.

A good starting place is PRWeb. There are many other press release services and many very good, but this is considered the best. They even help you write it.

You could even be asked for an interview and appear on the front page of your local paper. Take THAT, New York Times!!

In my humble opinion, you’ll find the best and most fun info of all about writing and distributing your press release in the Promote ANYTHING Online: Your Online Marketing Action Planecourse, along with the basics of several other major methods of online promotion including article marketing.

Humbly speaking, that is.

The important thing to keep in mind, however, is that video is actually more than one format. There’s screenshot video as well as motion picture video. So if the mere thought of making a worldwide screen debut makes you break out, never fear…options are here!

There’s a number of cool services (some free, some paid) that help you produce high quality video content that doesn’t require poking a little camera in your own face.

Here’s just a few offhand:

Screencast.com

Animoto.com

Camtasia.com

Remember that Powerpoint presentation? Record yourself discussing each slide and voila! You’ve got a video for all the world, or at least the part that interests you, can see. Without it seeing you.

If you’re ready for that big debut, there’s several good little video cameras to help for also-little money:

Pocket Video Cameras

Amazon.com Widgets

True, you may experience a bit of a learning curve at first, but don’t let that stop you. And also don’t believe that “good” video of any kind must be loooong video. As a matter of fact, short is best!

Not only is it best, it’s easiest to boot. Would you really want to keep someone engaged in what you’re doing for a half an hour? An hour??

There’s no shortage of places to put your finished product, either. It’s not just YouTube anymore!

There’s also:

Viddler

Vimeo

Google Video

Metacafe

literally just to name a few. For even more try typing “video directories” into Google’s search box – exactly like that, quotation marks and all.

Video is here to stay and will only get easier with improvements in technology. Smile!

It’s Day 13 of the I Am An Article series, but no bad luck here. It all keeps getting better as we look at many different ways of article marketing!

One way of repurposing article content is to use it as the basis for teleseminars. Those teleseminars become downloadable MP3 files, which you can distribute or sell as you wish.

Let’s take that just one little step further and make a CD.

You don’t need to be bigtime to make a physical product. With these few basic steps, you can get started right away:

1. Record the teleseminar using a free service like Audacity or Skype’s Pamela.

2. Download the mp3 onto your computer.

3. Edit the mp3 and add intro and exit music.

4. Import the audio into iTunes.

5. Burn the mp3 to a CD.

6. Whip up (or have whipped up) a nice label.

7. Buy a couple packs of CD case from your local office/computer supply store.

Congratulations! You’re now in the CD business.

Naturally, this is something you’ll soon want to outsource instead of spending all your waking hours making CDs. You’ll find plenty of CD duplication and distribution services like CDBaby.

I would recommend you not go too crazy at first with CD production. It’s true that some folks just like having something they can actually touch, but it’s also true that producing something tangible is always more expensive for you and less profitable.

All in all, it IS one more way to repurpose your article content and reach yet another segment of your market!!

Day 12 of the I Am An Article series about the many ways of article marketing. Who’d have thought it when we started?? Repurposing articles, or any content for that matter, seems limited only by imagination!

For instance, can you imagine yourself talking on the phone with a friend or fellow enthusiast about the subject of your articles? Maybe describing some things in more detail or telling a story or two about it? You probably don’t need to imagine it, because you’re doing it already, aren’t you?

Then you have what it takes to repurpose your articles as teleseminars.

The only real difference is you’d be talking to more than one friend at a time, who are also interested and came to join the fun.

With your own voice and phone, you’re more than halfway there to producing your own teleseminars. It can be as easy as joining Skype and paying a few bucks for Pamela. No, it’s not one of those sites…Pamela is the recording feature available on Skype for around 30 US dollars that allows you to record your phone calls and even edit them later. If that phone call is you talking with a few people about points from your article, you’ve got yourself a teleseminar.

For a more polished and sophisticated result, there’s also online services such as GoToWebinar and DimDim.

If you want to learn it start to finish first, there’s some first-class programs like Alex Mandossian’s Teleseminar Secrets that’ll make you a pro in no time.

Some programs will cost more than others. It depends most on what you want for your money.

There’s a big, big market for teleseminars of all kinds. Get in on the excitement!!

On Day 11 of the I Am An Article series, we’ll discuss repurposing your article as a PowerPoint presentation.

Granted, you may have already considered doing this after reading IAAA # 8, Speaking Of Speaking which suggested using your article content as the basis for public speaking engagements. It would only make sense to reformat the material into a PowerPoint presentation for your audience.

Ahh, but that’s not the ONLY audience for that!

Allow me to introduce you to SlideShare.net.

SlideShare.net is one big deal. It’s got a mind-blowing Google page rank and a low, looow Alexa site ranking (which is a good thing because the lower the Alexa number, the higher the level of traffic among sites registered with Alexa). In other words, lots of people go there. Some of those people may well be looking for what you have to offer.

Want those people to check you out while checking out your content? Simply include your link at the beginning and end of your slideshow. More is overkill and a real turnoff.

If you’d really like to maximize your traffic from SlideShare and other directiories to boot, create an article in 2 or more parts. You post your first PowerPoint article and at the end, provide a link to Part 2.

The best part is if you’ve already created a PowerPoint presentation format for your article content for possible public speaking gigs, it’ll take just a little basic editing to post it on SlideShare.net. Even if you’re too shy right now for going the public speaking to real live people route, you can still make very good use of one…or several!!
